Taipei Penthouse IV

Taipei - 2021

We had a brief to design a whole floor apartment in Taipei. The client was after an international aesthetic which contrasted the sometimes over the top interiors often popular to that region. We took that ask and ran with it creating a very crisp, tailored, beige & black space. Mixing different limestones, bleached timbers and leathers with black woods, marbles & lacquers. Even though we had an empty shell to work with we had to navigate very strict local codes and standards. Wet area locations were set due to services restrictions and ceiling heights were pre-determined. This made the planning challenging in order to satisfy everyone’s needs. Designed pre-pandemic and built during breaks in the covid lockdown with minimal communication and then photographed from afar, it taught us the importance of clear & thorough documentation and the skill and passion of those implementing such precise design.
