Private House I
Sydney - 2012
Land of the Cadigal, Birrabirragal clans
This was our first house commission when we started the practice and we were fortunate to be working with a client who had a strong vision and trusted our abilities, and a collaborative architectural partner in MHNDU Architects. Concrete was the main material used both for the exterior and interior, and we all worked incredibly hard to integrate it both ways. We wanted the house to feel like it had been designed as one, this was and still is an important factor in our work. The house has a monolithic feel to it and it is where we started to develop our love for detail and juxtaposing harder edge materials and forms with a layer of earthy textures through the use of fibres such as linen and sisal.
