Sydney - 2022
Land of the Gadigal, Birrabirragal clans
There are a lot of homes around the beach suburbs of Sydney built in the 1990’s when these areas weren’t as desirable as they are now. Fast Forward to the 2020’s and these homes now highly sought after. The houses are well constructed but have outdated layouts which no longer accommodate for contemporary family living. Apart from the obvious changes that were required aesthetically, a major issue was light. We re-worked the layouts to open up some areas whilst closing off others and enlarged windows to pull more light into the centre. The original dark palette was replaced with lime washed oak timber and light stones, with a few moments of black for contrast. A host of collectible furniture from Christophe Delcourt and Henry Timi was incorporated . It wasn’t to be a beach home with the cliched items that often come with that brief.
